Cologne Startup News in Chinese – The Crazy Ones
As some of you might have already seen, we recently made some startup videos in Chinese. It all started when I came back from China in February and Ali of Zoomm.me had the crazy idea to use the fact that we have a striving startup scene here in Cologne together with my Chinese language skills to try a new video format. After some convincing from Ali and beers at Startplatz I agreed to his crazy idea. However, we didn’t find the time and I was gladly postponing embarrassing myself on the net. Then, at one of the Startup BBQ events, right before I was jumping on my next plane to China again, he nailed me down to it and used the pressure of getting Shangxin on board for the project to make me finally agree to meet one night and do it. We had a night full of fun until way after midnight. Ali had everything in control and taught us a lot – we still did a lot of mistakes, but I think the end product was still quite decent:
As we got quite a lot of positive feedback for the first episode, we decided to go on as planned and do some interviews at the European Pirate Summit. It was the beginning of the after-party and most people already had had some beers. Perfect time to interview Till, the CEO of EPS, and Gustavo, CEO of Punchpunch.me, who I had convinced to come all the way from Beijing to attend the startup events in Cologne. But to keep it short, enjoy the clip!
To keep with the flow of this second clip, we’d like to encourage more exchange not only between European startup ecosystems, but also between us and Asia. The Pirates on a Plane trips from Cologne are already a first step and who knows maybe one day we’ll visit China or even get some more Chinese startups to come over and visit us.
